Frequently Asked Questions
Answers to basic and specific questions about Fritztile floor tile and flooring products:
Installation
- Can Fritztile be grouted?
- Can Fritztile be installed over a bituthene waterproofing?
- Can Fritztile be installed over existing chipped ceramic tile? Will it stick? Will it telegraph? This would be in an existing residential kitchen. Also, if this is an application that would work, what thickness would you recommend?
- Can Fritztile be used outdoors?
- Can your terrazzo tile be applied to shower and bathroom walls?
- Do you offer a cove base that is 6", and with a flare on the bottom?
- Do you recommend installers for Fritztile?
- How do Fritz tiles wear over radiant heat?
- How do I prepare an existing installation of porcelain or quarry tile to receive Fritztile?
- How does Fritz terrazzo tile compare to VCT in terms of flexibility/resilience? I know it's stronger/harder, but is it more brittle?
- I have dogs that will be confined to the kitchen and drinking sloppily out of a water bowl while nobody is home. Will Fritztile hold up in these conditions, or will water seep through and grow mold underneath and/or warp the flooring?
- What do you recommend for setting Fritztile?
- What is Fritztile's permeability? I have specified Fritztile over a concrete slab-on-grade that will be placed over a vapor retarder (12 mil reinforced polyethylene film.) The vapor retarder's permeability is 0.3 perms. As long as the Fritztile's permeability is more than 0.3 perms I'll be OK. If it is less than 0.3 perms, then, over time, moisture may get trapped in the concrete slab, which could lead to failure of the flooring adhesive.
- What is the cost per square foot of terrazzo, installed and not installed?
- What methods/tools do you recommend for cutting Fritztile?
- What type of base do you recommend for Fritztile?
