Frequently Asked Questions

Answers to basic and specific questions about Fritztile floor tile and flooring products:

What is Fritztile's permeability? I have specified Fritztile over a concrete slab-on-grade that will be placed over a vapor retarder (12 mil reinforced polyethylene film.) The vapor retarder's permeability is 0.3 perms. As long as the Fritztile's permeability is more than 0.3 perms I'll be OK. If it is less than 0.3 perms, then, over time, moisture may get trapped in the concrete slab, which could lead to failure of the flooring adhesive.

Although Fritztile has not been tested for permeability I am certain it will not allow moisture to evaporate through because of the UV cured urethane finish topcoat, therefore will be less than 0.3.

Consider the option, when using Fritztile and Fritz FA-88 adhesive a vapor retarder may not be necessary as Fritz FA-88 adhesive will tolerate up to 10 pounds of moisture vapor transmission.
