Fritz Gray Self-Leveling Overlayments are a polymer fortified portland-based cement powder engineered to provide self-leveling properties when mixed with water. Fritz Gray Self-Leveling Overlayments can be used as a wearable bright white abrasion-resistant flooring surface, or as a high strength overlayment preparation for other finish flooring materials. Fritz Gray Self-Leveling Overlayments are designed for new concrete or for the repair and renovation of existing concrete surfaces where short installation times, high strengths, flatness, and high reflective values are the ultimate objectives. New installations can accept foot traffic in 5 hours and forklift traffic in 24 hours. Install Fritz Gray Self-Leveling Overlayments on, above, and below grade over properly prepared and primed surfaces.

The bright white color of Fritz Gray Self-Leveling White Overlayment provides an ideal canvas to display the true color of stain appliqués or other colored pattern work. Its highly reflective properties help to reduce lighting requirements, and heating/cooling expenses.

Recommended Substrates

Fritz Gray Self-Leveling Overlayments are designed to be used as an interior finish floor surface material or as an underlayment to receive other finish flooring materials. It is not intended to repair or stabilize concrete or other substrates that are currently in structural disrepair. All surfaces intended to receive Fritz Gray Self-Leveling Overlayments must be adequately primed using Fritz P-100 Primer. The P-100 Primer allows Fritz Gray Self-Leveling Overlayment to be placed over steel, terrazzo, ceramic, porcelain, pavers, marble, granite, VCT, VAT, VT, and exterior grade plywood. Do not install over cushioned sheet vinyl, cushioned tile, linoleum, rubber, pressboards, hardboards, fiberboards, oriented strand boards, strip woods, parquets, or otherwise soft or dimensionally unstable materials. Concrete moisture emissions will not be impeded or remedied by Fritz Gray Self-Leveling Overlayment; the maximum level of moisture emissions for Fritz Gray Self-Leveling Overlayments when used as an underlayment is that of the finish material that will be attached to it. Anhydrous calcium chloride testing of moisture emissions (ASTM-1869) must be done prior to applying Fritz Gray Self-Leveling Overlayments; moisture test results performed on Fritz Gray Self-Leveling Overlayment will not represent accurate [original] substrate moisture emission levels.

  • Concrete must be fully cured and dimensionally stable. Cracking of a concrete substrate due to stress, settling, and cure, can telegraph up through the placed Fritz Gray Self-Leveling Overlayment since the bond to the substrate is superior. Existing concrete joints must be allowed to come up through the application; do not bridge concrete joints. Do not fill or bridge concrete expansion joints with Fritz Gray Self-Leveling Overlayment. Abrading and or scarifying the surface of the concrete to increase its surface texture prior to priming, will significantly improve bond quality.
  • Plywood must be stamped "Structural l Exterior". Two layers of wood construction decking over joists is required totaling a minimum thickness of 11/4 inches. The maximum deflection of this wood substrate must be limited to L/360 when applying 125 lbs force. Plywood joints must be staggered and successive panel layers must run perpendicular to the previous layer of wood substrate.
  • Steel (Metals) must be limited to a maximum deflection of L/360 when applying 125 lbs force. All metals must be secure and free of rust and oils.
  • Existing Floors must be securely bonded to the substrate and dimensionally stable. Recommendations for concrete and wood substrates as previously described must be maintained. All acceptable existing flooring must be sanded or reduced to a dull texture.

CAUTION

1.) Do not sand materials containing asbestos.
2.) Flooring with secondary backings may delaminate from their secondary backings under certain ordinary circumstances and cause failure. Be especially cautious of this if the original substrate is concrete with respect to moisture vapor emissions.
