Uses
Poz-Patch 300 is ideal as a skim coat and for filling substrate imperfections, cracksand seams. It can also be sloped to accommodate transition areas.
Surface Preparations
Substrates must be sound, solid, clean and free from dust, oil, grease, paint, wax sealers or any deleterious substances which may act as bond breakers. Poz-Patch 300 can be installed over old adhesive residues that are thin and well bonded. The adhesive residue must not be affected by either water or the adhesive used for the next floor covering. If both adhesives are suitable, wet-scrape the old adhesive to a thin, well-bonded residue, using the recommendations of the Resilient Floor Covering Institute. Apply only at temperatures between 50°F and 95°F. Do not use over unstable material such as gypsum (calcium sulfate) or particle board. Poz-Patch 300 does not require the subfloor to be primed prior to installation.
Mixing
Electric Drill: Pour 4 quarts of clean water into a clean mixing container and mix while adding entire contents of Poz-Patch 300. Mix thoroughly with a heavy duty drill and mixer blade for 1 to 2 minutes to achieve a smooth, trowelable, homogeneous consistency. Do not over mix or entrap air in the material. It is recommended that a test be made to determine the suitability of this product for its intended use.
Hand Mixing: If less than a full bag is required, place the desired amount of Poz-Patch 300 in a clean mixing container. While mixing by hand, add water until a desired trowelable, lump free consistency is achieved. The recommended mixing ratio is 3 1/2 parts powder to 1 part water by volume. DO NOT OVER-WATER! Poz-Patch 300 is not to be used as a self-leveling underlayment.
Application
Using a steel trowel, apply patch with sufficient pressure to fill all subfoor defects. Poz-Patch 300 is typically applied from featheredge to 1/8". For thicker patching, Fritz Poz-Patch 100 is recommended. For larger areas, use Fritz F-1000 self leveling underlayment.
Flooring Installation
Floor covering may be installed as soon as Poz-Patch 300 has sufficiently hardened to allow application of flooring adhesive using a notched trowel, without damaging the surface. Dry times of Poz-Patch 300 will vary. A skim coat may be hard in 15 minutes after application; however thicker areas will require additional time.
Caution
This is a cementitious type product that could be irritating to the eyes and skin. Rubber gloves are recommended. Avoid contact with eyes or prolonged contact with skin. In case of contact with skin, flush the thoroughly with water. In case of contact with eyes, flush with water, then seek prompt medical attention.
